Savor the flavors of fall and support healthy energy levels with this delicious smoothie recipe from our friend AnnMarie, an athlete and pro runner at Front Range Elite.

A Delicious Way to Carbo-Load

For me, fall means marathon season. The extra miles and intense training have me paying extra attention to nourishment in order to get the most out of preparation.

One of my favorite sources of easily digestible complex carbs and protein are sweet potatoes. I also pay extra attention to getting adequate amounts of iron and came up with this fun smoothie, perfect for satisfying those pumpkin spice cravings and supporting healthy energy levels.* (The secret ingredient? Floradix® Iron + Herbs Liquid Herbal Supplement.) I like to drink this anytime: before a long run for carbo-loading or with a scoop of protein post-workout to nourish my body and help keep my iron and energy levels up.*

Pumpkin Spice & Sweet Potato Smoothie

Serves 1

Ingredients:

2 cups of ice

1 baked sweet potato, cooled

1 ripe banana

1/4 cup almond butter

2 cups almond milk

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp sea salt

1 tsp pumpkin spice

1tsp cinnamon

1 tbsp maple syrup

1 serving (10mL) Floradix Iron + Herbs Liquid Herbal Supplement

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend thoroughly. Add more of a certain ingredient to taste.

More ideas:

Top with chia seeds, coconut yogurt, a sprinkle of almonds, and a cinnamon stick for maximum nourishing, replenishing goodness.
