Spring is in the air … can you feel it? The days are getting longer, the air is getting warmer, and it’s time to spring into action! Spring is all about rebirth and renewal, so take a cue from nature and bring the beauty of the season to your health journey.

There’s so much to love about spring. If you live in a cold climate, it’s the promise of green grass, blooming flowers and warm, sunny days. If you’re in a warmer spot, it’s the return of super bright sunshine and blue skies. The world bursts back to life after the quiet restoration of winter and it’s up to you to take advantage of it.

Winter can also mean lower energy levels, especially if you’ve spent most of the season indoors. It’s totally normal to lay low on chilly days, though your get-up-and-go drive may be in flux as the seasons change. Ready to get back to your usual vim and vigor and hit the (green) ground running come spring? Check out some of our favorite tips for seasonal energy support.

Get to bed earlier and wake up earlier.

Adjusting your sleep schedule will help you tackle the time change in advance. Try heading to bed even just 10 minutes earlier than normal: no phones, no TV, no distractions! Skip your nightcap in favor of a relaxing cup of tea or glass of water and settle in with a book before drifting off. The next morning, try and wake up just five or ten minutes before your usual alarm. The first few wakeups may be difficult, but soon you may find yourself looking forward to that extra time.

Spice up your dinner routine.

Adding more flavor and spice to your meals can really rev up your appetite and get you moving the rest of the day. Why not reach for the chili powder or jalapeno peppers to turn up the heat on tonight’s dinner?

Add a new supplement to your routine.

If your energy levels are noticeably lower than usual, it may be a good idea to start taking an iron supplement. (Chat with your healthcare provider first.) Floradix® Iron + Herbs Liquid Herbal Supplement supports daily energy with 0 mg of iron from ferrous gluconate, plus B-vitamins. The liquid formula is gentle on your system and quickly absorbed, and it tastes great too!

Open the windows and soak up the sun.

Weather permitting, let some fresh air into your home and get rid of that stale winter feeling. Open the curtains and the windows to get the air circulating and let the sunshine in. Get regular sunlight throughout the day to keep up your vitamin D levels, too. Just a few minutes can make a big difference!

Move your workouts outside.

Fold up that treadmill and get your blood pumping with nature. As soon as the ice has melted and it’s safe to exercise outside, take your workout outdoors. A long walk is an easy way to refresh your perspective when you’re stuck at work or a great way to end the day, and running or jogging is so much fun when you have scenery to watch, not a TV screen.

Eat seasonally.

Loading up your plate with in-season fruits and veggies doesn’t just taste great, it makes your body happy too. Figure out what’s in season in spring in your area and make a point of adding that produce to your weekly menu. It’s a great way to change up your routine and get more of the vitamins and minerals your body craves.

Make a list of your favorite things about spring.

Does your outlook need a boost? Make a list of everything you’re looking forward to about the new season — the weather, planting the garden, special occasions, whatever! — and look at it when you’re in a slump. Schedule some fun activities throughout the season to keep your enthusiasm and energy up.
